(NaturalNews) -- Travelers living near and far from Washington state are facing a problem that will make it a nightmare to travel to Washington, D.C.

Many have been told they will lose their freedom on the way to work in the coming weeks after the state Department of Transportation said they can use driver's licenses or IDs to join the hundreds of thousands of travelers who are expected to leave Washington in the weeks ahead. A study that found more than half (52 percent) of those moving to D.C. will travel abroad.

"We will lose all the jobs, all the free trips our families will need in the coming weeks," D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser promised at an April 7th rally. Her plan was to put a $10,000 grant in place that would help small business owners, such as her, to plan travel to Washington and a similar program to help businesses find work.

But now, as the Department of Transportation gets involved, these efforts will also get harder as businesspeople face the realization that the D.C. job market is so crowded it will never be the same.

"That is what it is: you're losing your jobs," Virginia Department of Transportation Commissioner Mary Ellen Mckinley told the crowd. "And, really, you're paying the cost of our government in the form of federal government subsidies that are going to help this country get
