At the start of last year, the U-17 team was ranked third in the rankings at the World Juniors and, while some are now calling for its top players to get a look at the medal-winning Canadians, the group has lost all but the few of its top players a year after winning the tournament, the country's richest man, Mikhail Vadim Valiev, said.

It has been two years now since the team qualified for the World Junior Championship on June 9, 2014, but one thing has not changed: the country and its entire sports have become completely separated.

"They're completely apart from their neighbours. The international sports community's all here. I wouldn't be here without them," said Vadim, who has already played with the U-17s in a World Junior final and with the U-19 team.

"They're so united and strong and there is nothing different than that. It was unbelievable.

"It's been so hard. I think for our country it's a tough competition
