"We were in bed together. The main characters were sitting at a coffee shop. They had been at it for four hours. We were there at the beginning. I did an interview with the cast and I said what I was going to say, and everyone said, 'It's not going to end, but you're going to see it'. And that wasn't one of them," says Kinberg, who recently worked on a pilot about Walter's wife, Rachel. I thought about it, and I said, 'Man, I can't believe it.' And I asked Ben that question and said I'm going to do it."

The Walking Dead, though, was not in good health for its own good—a recurring problem for the show's creators, who had been trying to revive the show with the resurrection of the showrunner Jon Rickom in the wake of the deaths of Jon Rickom and his wife and daughter at the hands of Dr. Rick in Season 6.
